Naga040 Ookawachi Chinese Yi-jing incense burner

Celadon koro, incense burner, from the Gendayuu kiln in Ookawachi. Design is of two hexograms from the Chinese Yi-jing 易経 (Eki-kyo): top trigram plus the three uninterrupted lines in the middle signify Ta Chuang 大壮 Great Strength and Wisdom, the middle trigram when combined with the bottom line-dash-linesignifies Tung Jen 同人 People who Fit Well with Others. The signature block on the bottom is for Gendayuu 玄太有. Artist is Kawazoe Noriyuki 川副紀之. From the 2002-03 firings in Ookawachi. Truly a beautiful piece-eight finely crafted sides with incised lotus flower lid, fitted minutely to only one direction. Bottom width: 5 cm., body width: approx. 8 cm., height: 10.5 cm.
