Naga097 Chinese children plate

Chinese blue and white porcelain plate with fluted edge with a finely painted design of a dancing Chinese male child in the center, what the Japanese call a Karako. The inner rim of the plate is finely drawn in designs of 4 other male pursuits: fishing with a weir from under a willow tree, looking into a garden from ones balcony, plowing with the help of a water buffalo, and porting two heavy burdens on a pole. The large leaved plaintain give the scene a definite Southern flair. The reverse is a deep copperish green overglaze. No mark or signature. 19th century. Top diameter: 19.5 cm. Back diameter: 10 cm. Height: 4 cm.
