Naga127 Arita frolicking snow lion octagonal plate

Arita blue and white kakuzara octagonal plate with stencil transfer (inban) design a design of two frolicking snow lions on a bough of tree peony. A band of stylized dragons and phoenixes surrounds the center. The rim bands are of four of the triple phoenix design, with the four corners in a summer design of bellflowers and cricket cages. The reverse carries four familiar stencil transfer designs of three diamond lozenges tied in a decorative band. No mark or signature. Some kiln firing marks on one of the lower corners on the backside. Meiji Period. Top width: 26.7 cm Corner width: 31.5 cm. Bottom diameter: 14.8 cm. Height: 4 cm.
