Naga130 Arita pheasant and peony octagonal plate Arita blue and white porcelain kakuzara octagonal plate with a stencil transfer (inban) design of kachoga (Flower and bird designs in Chinese style), here of a pheasant on a rock with a tree peony, and a branch of nandina. The design has the normal outer band in a Chinese key design. The rim surround is of a stylized grouse or pheasant in the four corners, with the four sides in a design of a mythological kirin on a ground of pomegranates. Very well executed and elegant. The reverse carries four stencil transfer (inban) designs of the familiar three diamond lozenge tied in decorative cording. Concentric circles, one at the center, and three around the bottom diameter complete the design. No mark or signature. Meiji Period. Top width: approx. 30.6 cm. Corner width: approx. 36.5 cm.
