Naga139 Arita catfish and landscape octagonal charger An antique kakuzara or eight-sided charger, among the largest I have seen of this type, hand-painted in a slashed center repeated design of eels or catfish, those most sensitive of fish who can feel an earthquake or a storm far before it hits. The sides are done in a bold chrysanthemum band, with a stylized bamboo and pine pattern on four sides and four corners. The back carries a tako karagusa pattern (tentacled Chinese vine) and an underglazed mark, similar to that found on item 122, also an octagonal charger. Diameter to corners 40 cm., width 34.3 cm. back base diameter 23 cm. Some surface damage at lower left corner. @ @ @ naga139 Arita kakuzara $275.00 (shipping & packing available) We accept VISA and MASTERCARD See more at Richard Arts
