Naga146 Mikawachi Yoshitsune and followers saucers

Akae hand-painted demitasse saucers from Mikawachi, Meiji Period 19th c. Gift of Walter Klinger. Three shell lozenzes feature Yoshitsune with either his bodyguard Benkei, or Benkei with Shizuka, Yoshitsunes mistress. The signatures are of three sorts: Mikawachi 三川内、古又造 Made by Furumata, or 古又製 Manufactured by Furumata. Gold paint over cinnabar red. Average diameter 12.4 cm. Average bottom base diameter 5.6 cm.
