Naga151 Warbler and plum vase

Vase from the Yazaemon Kiln of Arita in the Kakiemon style, with a design of a pair of spring warblers on a branch of plum, in the colors of red, green, blue, and yellow. Identical to a plate in the Riksmuseum Collection in Holland from the early Edo period, 17th c. See p. 30, plate 2, in Nagatake Takeshi 2003. Classic Japanese Porcelain. Kodansha International. Height 26 cm., circumference approx. 44 cm., bottom cir. 10.5 cm., top cir. 8.3 cm. Gold rim and 2 red lines around the base. Overglaze ‘Yazaemon’ on the bottom.
