Naga170 Mino eight-sided plate

I am calling this a kakuzara plate from the Mino area, around Nagoya, because I received it from a location north of there, rather than from Kyushu. I know that these stencil designed plates were made in other areas of porcelain production in Japan, even if the design seems to refer to Arita ware. However, the eight-sided plate is gently rounded in exection, rather that flat as in most of the Arita pieces. The border design contains larger lozenges in a cloud and leaf design. Notice the border of curtain flaps often seen at the base of Chinese vases, as well as the more precise Chinese style landscape in the center. I find the island with its three buildings and trees at the lower center of the design more in dept to Western renderings in ceramics. No signature. No chips. Meiji era. Width/Height 28.4 cm, back circle diameter 13.8 cm.
