Naga173 Cranes and tortoise incense burner An incense burner of the finest quality white porcelain (hakuji白磁) for which the Mikawachi area has long been the leader. By the 14th generation potter Fukumoto Yajiemon福本弥治右ヱ門(piece is signed and has a box with signed lid called a tomobako). The design is of senbazuru (thousand cranes) that can be seen flying beneath the glaze around the body of the round burner. The top is filigreed as in the older Hirado wares, and topped by a tortoise, often paired with the crane as symbols of longevity. Diameter 11.3 cm, Height approx. 13 cm. Tripodal. In pristine condition. New.
