Naga177 Blue Sea wave vase

A small bottle vase by the gentleman potter Nihei 仁平of Ookawachi、the home of fine Nabeshima porcelain. The design is Seikaiha 青海波 or Blue Sea Waves, known in T’ang China, Heian Japan, as well as in modern times as a geometric of profound tranquility. Here, Nihei’s waves begin at the base of the spout and spread to the bottom, as do real waves upon the shore. Very fine Nabeshima porcelain. Modern. Height 17.5 cm, Diameter approx. 15 cm., Bottom base 10.3 cm.
