Naga185 Shochikubai charger

Arita inban stenciled plate in the design of shochikubai (pine, bamboo, and plum). Late Meiji Era. The reverse carries a repeated stencil of a single camellia blossom. Has a mark of R and efrom thef as in #182 from this collection, so this is probably from a major firm in Arita such as Koransha or Fukagawa. The glaze on the surface of this plate shows signs of curdling while in the kiln, as well as a small crack at the edge, also part of the firing. Diameter 30.5, back circle diameter 20 cm. Height 3.3 cm.
