Naga191 Chrysanthemum and phoenix plate 2

Arita blue-and-white stencil plate in the design of a curved phoenix (symbolizing the Imperial throne), interspersed in a chrysanthemum (the symbol of Japanfs Emperor), and a spray of Paulownia (indicating the Meiji and Taisho era Imperial lineage to the Tokugawa family whose crest was the Paulownia). Three repeated camellias on the back. No mark, but probably Koransha. This plate is paired with #190 and perhaps was made on the occasion of an Imperial accession or the birth of an Imperial successor. Diameter 31 cm., back circle diameter 20 cm. No mark.
