Naga200 Flower and shochikubai plate

Arita blue-and-white stencil charger, early Meiji c. 1870, in a bold hash-marked design of shochikubai (pine, bamboo, plum) in the center, followed by a narrow ring of cross hatching, and a larger outer band of dramatic chrysanthemum and pinwheel pattern. This design is one from a manual of designs issued in the Meiji Period. The reverse has three early stencil designs of camellias. Diameter 40.5 cm., back circle diameter 25.3 cm. Height 5.5 cm.
