Naga205 Landscape charger

A Shioda blue-and-white charger, hand-painted, from the Meiji Era. The Shioda mark is unmistakably in the thick border pattern. Here the brushstrokes are freely applied in a traditional landscape of mountains, trees, dwellings, in this case an additional brushwood gate indicating reclusiveness and tranquility, and inevitably, a body of water. The reverse is a very freely drawn pattern of hills, sea, and boats. Diameter 44 cm, back circle diameter 26.5 cm. Height 7 cm. There is an incised mark on the back, two kanji, the first of which is likely ko meaning old.
