Naga218 Five clawed dragon vase

Large round vase, Chinese, in a traditional design and shape of a Ming style (15th century) vessel with roundel bands at the top and bottom, topped with a Chinese key design. The main band is in the design of a phoenix and five-fingered dragon, the symbol of Imperial authority. Blue-and-white and hand-painted from the Jingdezhen kilns. Top is removable as though the piece is to be used for storage of liquids, but is likely for purely decorative effect. Blue-and-white with a crazed glaze. Diameter approx. 21 cm. at the widest point, bottom diameter 9 cm., top opening 3 cm.
