Koga Madonna doll of a young mother carrying her baby boy on her back. She hold an unfurled parasol in the right hand while her left hand props up her child. At her foot is likely a gourd of water. Bisque overlaid with paper and hand-painted. Green and red. Now very old and worn, the eyes and face point to great beauty and serenity. She is a lovely Madonna. Late Edo or Meiji era, 1850’s. Width 15 cm., height 35.5 cm.
