Naga374a Japanese long-wed couple dolls

A loyal and long-wed couple, often placed in the tokonoma as a symbol of longevity and fidelity. The set is often called Takasago after a Noh play with two aged characters who are the spirits of two pines on the beach at Takasago whose branches are intertwined. He carries a broom indicating accumulated wisdom. No mark save a sticker on the bottom that indicates the manufacturerfs grouping. Width 12 cm. and 7.5 respectively, height 20 cm. and 19 cm. respectively. Meiji era. 1900.
