Naga382 Daikoku wooden sculpture with reliquary case

Wooden sculpture in one piece with a reliquary case of lacquer and gold from the Edo period or earlier. 17th-18th centuries. The figure is of daikoku, one of the seven Gods of Good Fortune. Daikoku is the god of rice and is always portrayed, as here, sitting on two bales of the same. Width of figure 6 cm., height 8.5 cm. Width of shrine 19 cm., height 22 cm.
