Naga450 Edo era Japanese ship's chest

Funadansu or ship's chest that functioned as a portable set of drawers for important documents and money. These were carried aboard by shipsf mates or captains. This one is largely of Japanese sugi or cryptomeria wood with hand- forged iron fittings. The door is of a more exotic wood such as oak. Mid to late Edo, late 18th c.
