Naga457 Late 19th Japanese wooden hand-warmer

Teaburi or hand-warmer cabinet meant to be placed on the tatami. The interior has been renewed in copper. Normally, the interior would be filled with filtered sand, then topped with sumi charcoal bits. An iron kettle burbling steam completed the ensemble. Late 19th c., in keyaki (zelkova) wood.
