Back to a print from Jacoulet’s Korea series, this one portrays another elderly Korean gentleman of the educated class, seated on a silk zabuton of Japanese design, but holding a Korean fan with a design of the mountains of what is now North Korea. The title ‘Old Manuscripts’ refers to the old scholarly text he has on his lap. The same model as the man used for Hokkan-zan 1937.
