‘The Old Ainu’ is the Christmas Card version of the Oban from 1950, one of a pair of portraits of an old Ainu couple from Hokkaido. The man is characterized by the bold pattern on his cotton garment, as well as by the white shock of his hair, beard, and eyebrows. The background is silver mica.
